ITINERARY
DAY 1: Welcome to Marrakech
- Highlights: Arrival, welcome at hotel
- Dinner
Arrive in Marrakech, where a private driver will greet you at the airport and escort you to your riad tucked inside the medina. After settling in, you’ll gather with fellow travelers for a delicious welcome dinner. Surrounded by the scents of saffron and cinnamon, you’ll savor traditional Moroccan dishes and begin to soak in the rhythm of this enchanting city.
DAY 2: Exploing Marrakech
- Highlights: Walking tour historic center, street food
- Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
This morning, after a delicious breakfast, step into the labyrinth of Marrakech’s medina with a local guide. Explore bustling souks and artisan workshops, admire the intricate Ben Youssef Madrasa, and wander spice-scented alleys alive with color. We’ll pause for a relaxed lunch together at a traditional restaurant before taking some time to relax back at our riad.
This afternoon, choose the broad olive groves and reflecting basin of the Menara Gardens or the intimate courtyards of Le Jardin Secret for a calm contrast. As evening falls, Djemaa el-Fna springs to life; we’ll enjoy a guided tasting walk through its vibrant food stalls, sampling classic Moroccan street flavors.
DAY 3: Marrakech Palaces & Gardens
- Highlights: Palace and tombs, Moroccan dinner show
- Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
Today’s explorations trace Marrakech’s royal past—beginning in the Mellah at the ornate Bahia Palace, then through the Kasbah to the richly carved Saadian Tombs. Your guide will thread quiet lanes and lively souks—spice merchants, metalworkers, neighborhood bakeries—pausing for stories and photos along the way. We’ll break for a relaxed, light lunch together at a traditional restaurant.
This evening, experience a classic Moroccan Fantasia (Tbourida) dinner-show at Chez Ali: thrilling horsemen charging in synchronized displays, live musicians and dancers, and a festive atmosphere under the big top. Enjoy Moroccan mint tea and pastries, performances featuring belly dancers, fire-eaters, and magicians, plus a dinner in a Berber tent accompanied by Berber folklore stories—a colorful finale to the day.
DAY 4: Arafay
- Highlights: Desert experiences, camel ride
- Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
This morning, after a leisurely breakfast—and perhaps a last stroll for those final souk treasures—we’ll leave the city behind for the Agafay Desert. As Marrakech’s ochre walls fade, the road opens to rolling plateaus and distant outlines of the High Atlas. Agafay is a stone desert (hammada): wind-burnished ridges, pale limestone hills, and wide, echoing silence. We’ll arrive at our luxury tented camp in time for a relaxed lunch on the terrace, with uninterrupted horizons all around.
After a mint-tea welcome and time to settle in, choose your pace: a gentle camel ride tracing old shepherds’ paths, or a 4×4/quad outing that dips through dry riverbeds and along rocky crests. As the light softens and the Atlas blushes, we’ll gather for sunset cocktails, followed by a candlelit dinner beneath a sky brilliant with stars.
DAY 5: Arafay to Essaouira
- Highlights: Argan oil experience
- Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
After breakfast, we’ll continue west toward the Atlantic, crossing rolling plains dotted with argan groves. We’ll pause at a women’s argan cooperative to see kernels hand-cracked and stone-ground, learn the difference between culinary (roasted) and cosmetic (cold-pressed) oils, and taste amlou—Morocco’s classic spread made from roasted almonds, argan oil, and honey, traditionally served with warm bread.
By afternoon, sea breezes announce Essaouira. We’ll settle into our boutique hotel in the historic center, then ease into the evening with dinner at the hotel’s restaurant, highlighting fresh coastal flavors. For added relaxation, Le Palazzo’s spa offers argan-oil massages—a soothing treat after the journey (or to reserve for the following day).
DAY 6: Essaouira
- Highlights: Guided walking tour, Gnawa music
- Breakfast, Dinner
With its whitewashed lanes, cobalt doors, and ocean air, Essaouira invites you to slow down. On a guided walk, we’ll trace the UNESCO-listed ramparts—including the Skala de la Ville with its old cannons—then swing by the fishing port to see the iconic blue boats and the lively fish market. We’ll weave through souks and artisan studios—thuya-wood marquetry, luthiers shaping ouds and guembris, weavers, and spice merchants—and, time permitting, step into the historic Mellah (Jewish quarter) to visit a restored synagogue and glimpse the city’s layered heritage.
Lunch today is on your own, and the afternoon is yours: browse galleries, linger in cafés, or take a breezy walk along the wide beach where kitesurfers catch the Atlantic winds. This evening, we’ll gather for a group dinner with live Gnawa music in a traditional setting.
DAY 7: Essaouira
- Highlights: Cooking class, Hammam
- Breakfast, lunch, dinner
Our final full day together begins with a hands-on cooking experience, where you’ll build a spice palette—cumin, coriander, saffron, and ras el hanout—then prepare a classic tagine or fish with chermoula – or perhaps pair of seasonal salads (think zaalouk or taktouka) and warm semolina bread. Then we’ll sit down to enjoy our creations over lunch, finishing with the mint-tea ritual.
This afternoon you might browse small galleries in the medina, pick up last-minute finds in the souks, or unwind in a traditional hammam—a steam bath with black-olive soap and a kessa exfoliation for silky-soft skin – highly recommended!
This evening, we’ll gather for a farewell dinner overlooking the Atlantic—fresh coastal flavors, sunset light, and a toast to an unforgettable Moroccan journey.
DAY 8: Departure
Early morning departure for Marrakech Airport
